For the love of God

“Peanuts may not be reasonably necessary for air travel, but the ability to carry a bag onto a flight is,” Schumer wrote, warning he would act if Treasury does not find a remedy “in the coming months.”

You may find this surprising but Schumer is up for re-election in 2010. Imagine that. It’s always the same story with this guy. Belligerent, flamboyant threats to feed his endless ego and pretend he’s the champion of the little guy – whoever that is. He’s always threatening to legislate something. The problem is that Congress tends to attract exactly this type of person: over-aggressive, ignorant bullies who are deluded that the world needs them to be on a crusade every time someone farts too loudly in the vestibule. Consequently, the law books are filled with stupid, over intrusive laws.

Do I think the bag fees are baloney? Sure, they stink. Do I think the United States Congress needs to address the issue. Dear God, no. Schumer doesn’t have the first clue about how to run an airline. That’s why he’s in Congress. Frankly, I’d like to see the entire federal government take then next 5 years off.
