I ran across two pretty extraordinary statements this week. The first quote is from Scott Rasmussen in the Wall Street Journal. I think he sums up the sentiment of Americans in general better than anyone else has so far:

“Elected politicians also should leave their ideological baggage behind because voters don’t want to be governed from the left, the right, or even the center. They want someone in Washington who understands that the American people want to govern themselves.”

The second quote was from an article in Foreign Affairs written by Hillary Clinton:

Hillary Clinton

“Economic growth is the surest route out of poverty, and expanding and strengthening middle classes around the world will be key to creating the just and sustainable international order that lies at the heart of the United States’ national security strategy.”

I had to go back and read the byline to make sure it really was Hillary Clinton who wrote these extraordinary words. Now if she would just inform the president of her epiphany maybe this administration will come to realize that these words apply to the American people as well as those abroad.
